This is by far one of my most favourite shots. This was shot in Nikko, the same day that I had visited Toshogu. I love this site so much, I could stare at the endless cascade of water for hours. This site is high up in the mountains, and these falls are REALLY tall. I think this is one of the most beautiful places in Japan to visit.
it is very purdy (good job . was this a snap as you go?) or did you take more then on photo of this and choos wich one looked better ? (dont think i am being rude) i just love asking people who kick ass with a camra
Well, here's what this location is like: you drive high up into the mountains, climb a lot of stairs, walk through a long tunnel, stand in a long line, and take an elevator up to a viewing platform in front of the falls. There is only one possible angle to shoot from, so if I took several shots they would have all turned out identical. So I guess this was 'shoot-as-you-go'. I think I have a natural eye for 'composure', if that's what you're talking about. It took me a simple point-and-click 10 seconds to set up this shot.
Actually, I was very lucky this day. Being in the mountains, we had to drive up directly into the clouds. When we first got to this location, you couldn't even see the falls even though they were right in front of you, it was soooo misty. It had also been raining there all day. But that was actually good luck; all the rain was producing a high water level. Normally the falls would be a mere thin spout pouring down, hardly spectacular. We stood there for half an hour trying to peer though the fog to see the falls (we certainly could hear them!), and finally Nature opened her curtains and I could get a momentary clear view before the fog rolled back in again. The mist created a nice atmosphere while still providing enough clarity. The colour was very vivid in the shot, and I was very happy. It was just a lucky day, a lucky shot.
gorgeous! This is one of the most beautiful photos I've ever seen. It's so amazing, it looks too pretty to be real. Thank you so much for showing us this on DA!

Wow thanks so much for the comment!! Yea, sometimes I really surprise myself with photos like these. I mean, you have no control over the lighting or atmosphere, so it's really all by chance, just a matter of shutter, apature, and composure (I like to call it SAC, lol)!
WOW!!! That is amazing!! It would be so awesome to have a view like that from your house This is really an amazing photograph! I love it! The mist/fog gives it a very very very awesome touch. Everything about this is great!

This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and =Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
