Artist's Comments

As suggested by the title, this painting was a social protest work I did for my painting class. I'm pretty sure that you can guess the symbolism of social stigmas in this work... well anyway, try to guess in your comments!! :D

Acrylic on Canvas, roughly 150cm x 80cm.

Comments encouraged.

Thank you. I really enjoyed painting this one. :) There are many messages hidden in this painting.

Cool, captures the growing and and being gay thing real well.. trapped, usually alone in a crowded room.. silently screaming out. Cool work.

Oh show me the way to the next whiskey bar, oh don't ask why. Oh, don't ask why.

I agree with what has been says so far. The facial expression is very indicative of the mental struggle all us gays go through. The color scheme is another one that works I think. The blood coming out of the hole on the wall. I have an idea of what it might mean, but I'm not sure. Care to explain that one sometime?

The hole in the wall... like everything else in this painting, it is symbolic. But because art interpretation is not the responsibility of the artist, in my opinion, so I will only tell you what it means to ME. I can't tell you what it means to YOU. A certain individual in the army who was murdered for being gay, a broomstick forced into his rectum, THAT is why I painted a bloody drain on the wall. I don't know what you were expecting, but it was probably different from my reasoning, so please share with me your interpretation!

I've heard of several people killed by having things shoved in their rectums. So, I thought it could either be a reference to those or an allegory that all the hate thrown at us is like doing that to society as a whole. :) Glad to see I think sort-of like you. :P

Wow Jared! Amazing work! I love the despair that's evident in that character's face... Beautiful work :D

And we'll love, and we'll hate, and we'll die. All to no avail...

sad world we live in, very interesting painting that touched me. Homophobes sicken me.
